Run For Cancer
October 2025 - November 2025
Situation
The University of Toronto Run Club collaborated with the York University Run Club and the UofT Relay For Life Team to host a unified charity running event. The goal was to unite the university community to raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Task
My task was to serve as a key organizer, responsible for establishing the entire event logistics framework, coordinating efforts across the three distinct organizing teams, and developing the marketing materials to drive registration. The ultimate goal was to execute a successful charity run on that maximized donations and provided a meaningful experience.
Approach
Logistical Planning & Inter-Team Coordination
I took the lead in designing the event structure and sponsorships. I assigned specific roles and responsibilities to the York University Run Club and the U of T Relay For Life Team, ensuring clear accountability and efficient collaboration across all three partner organizations. Furthermore, I coordinated the on-site logistics for all sponsors, ensuring their giveaways and refreshments were correctly set up and ready before the event start. I also coordinated with Lucas Fegaras, an olympic fitness trainer from Extension Fitness, to facilitate the warm-up session.
On the day of the run, I managed the event flow, including ensuring all sponsors were ready and organized. I took professional photographs throughout the event to capture the energy and document the success for post-event promotion.
Marketing & Promotion
I personally designed the promotional flyer and created a series of reminder posts for a phased social media campaign, consistently using the November cancer colors of purple and white to create a unified and powerful visual theme. This sustained campaign drove early interest and continued sign-ups.
