International Association for Dance Medicine & Science
Situation
To promote the use of infographics as powerful visual tools for sharing concepts in dance science, an annual competition recognizes exceptional designs that make dance science engaging and accessible to dancers and educators. Organized by staff and supported by a dedicated research and publications committee, the competition highlights creative approaches to communicating scientific knowledge in the dance community.
Task
Select a topic that aligns with the mission of advancing dance science knowledge and create an infographic that is visually compelling, innovative, and clearly communicate its message in a concise and accessible way.
Approach
I approached the creation of the infographic by integrating insights from my academic background in neuroscience, physiology, and psychology to highlight the complex relationship between emotional and physical well-being in dancers. Drawing from both scientific research and my own experiences in dance, I aimed to communicate how movement can serve as a therapeutic outlet, emotionally regulating the body while supporting physical health. I translated these layered concepts into a clear, visually engaging format that would resonate with both dancers and educators.
