Sport and Recreation

October 2024 - May 2025

Situation

The Faculty of Kinesiology & Physical Education (F&P) needed to increase awareness and engagement with its fitness and recreation programs. Many campus fitness spaces were often perceived as intimidating, and student engagement with Sports & Recreation’s digital platforms was also limited. There was a need to increase social media presence while making the gym environment more approachable.

Task

My role was to create and implement a cohesive social media strategy and content that highlighted F&P programs and made fitness spaces more welcoming, while ensuring all content met institutional branding guidelines.

Approach

Content Creation

I developed a targeted content strategy centered around transparency and relatability by producing reels, tutorials, and intro videos that highlighted the personalities and stories of our student coaches. This approach was designed to break down intimidation barriers and present the gym as a space for everyone, regardless of experience level.

Rapid Fire: getting to know the coaches

Produced a series of Rapid Fire Reels featuring fitness and performance student coaches at the University of Toronto. Adapted a trending TikTok format to highlight their personalities and favorite exercises, creating engaging and relatable content to promote the coaching community.

IMPACT class promotional reel

Created a promotional reel highlighting the Integrated Movement, Performance, Agility, and Conditioning Team (MPACT) classes offered at the University of Toronto. These progressive workout classes are grounded in research and designed to help individuals adapt and grow at their own pace.

Collaboration reels

Collaborated with a team of work-study students to develop creative content aimed at increasing social media engagement and highlighting the gym facilities available to the student community.
